Establishment of Nursery Home for homeles people
Vishakhapatnam,India
OUTLINE
In India, there are a lot of people living on the street just because of the Caste system, an old tradition. In India, they had no freedom to choose occupation because of the system; children of street people had to be street children. They still have such a tradition. Begging for money, they live to work for any hard jobs, but when they get older and weaker physically they cannot live by hard jobs.
Therefore, L. Angel International Volunteer Association decided to establish a nursery home for the aged homeless people, with the support of Japan General Postal Office.
The orphanage is to be managed by the local rotary club, “Abuhaya”.
Coordination with Abuhaya club, who fully knows about the current situation of the local area, enables us to provide detailed assistance to improve the current situation.
The nursery home is in Modavalasa village, driving from Vishakhapatnam city, Capital City of Andhra Pradesh State by high way for an hour,
At first, the capacity was 30 people, but more people than we expected wanted to enter, so each room for 6 people was enlarged to be able to contain 8 people. After completion ceremony, the enlargement of 2nd floor was decided. We can provide more homeless people with place to live.
We wish people can live hopefully and peacefully in this building.
This is only a first step. With your assistance, we would like to assist to provide with hopeful and safe place for children. Your further assistance and cooperation would be highly appreciated.
2nd floor completed!
The 2nd floor was established. More people can live in the building safely and peacefully. Thank you for your cooperation.

Completion Ceremony
On February 13, 2005, the completion ceremony was held.
40 people attended, including the members of the local rotary club and old people who are going to live in.
For details, please see the Volunteer Report Vol. 28.(In Japanese)

Construction
The building is made from the materials such as stones, cement, bricks, etc. The local people have worked under the scorching heat.
They had few machines for construction. Mostly, the people have worked by hands.
The stones and bricks make the room temperature in the building controlled. When the temperature gets over 40 ℃, they make the room cooler during the day, and when it is cold outside, the rooms can be kept warmer.
