L ANGEL Reports from NEPAL (Nov.1998)
| Thank you very much for your kind assistance and cooperation in the voluntary activities. We, 'L Angel', are proceeding our ways to lead people in Nepal to the happiness. Please be informed of the current situations as follows; |
| * CHILDREN IN RAMACHOR VILLAGE STARTED TO LEARN |
| As you may know, a school including a workshop,
was completed in Ramachor Village, where
is under the roots of the Himalayan Mountains,
in April 1998, and the school began from
the same month. We highly appreciate your
endeavour to achieve the construction. We
hope children will have international views
through the education in the school. When we visited the school in summer, we saw children with school uniforms studying math, English, Nepalese, etc. in each classroom. It was impressive that a student read English letters on a blackboard, pointing to them by a pole, and everyone read, following him. After the class, everyone came to us with full of smile, and showed us their textbooks and notebooks. They seemed to enjoy their school lives. We recommend you to see what is happening to the village. You will able to find something warm and purec |
| VISIT TO NEPAL |
| Visit Ramachor Village, and all of people
there will welcome you with full of smiles.
The best season in Nepal, from November to
March, is coming soon. Pokarah, where takes
half an hour by air, is the second largest
city in Nepal. It is famous for a stronghold
of trekking to the Himalayan Mountains. Lots
of Japanese trekkers come to Pokarah in this
season. It is the best season for guides
of trekking as well. They can earn money
for 2 or 3 few months enough to live their
lives for a year. In the rainy season, from April to September, they have rain almost everyday (70 % of an annual rainfall). In Ramachor village, where takes an hour by a car from Pokarah, the ways to go to school are sometimes lost due to flood or landslide. |
| INTRODUCE 'FOSTER PARENTS' SYSTEM |
| In Ramachor village, there are lots of children who need financial assistance to have education. We looked for foster parents, and we found 11 parents. Thank you very much for your cooperation. If you have any interests, please feel free to contact us. |
| ENDEAVOUR OF JAPANESE STAFFS IN NEPAL |
| Mr. Iwashita has been staying in Nepal since
August 1997, and assisting for school construction
and management. He has been striving to achieve
our objectives in the different cultures
and language. Besides that, Ms. Ohuchi sometimes stay in Nepal for a few months to teach lace workings to women in the village. |
| PARTICIPATE IN FLEE MARKET SALES |
| Flea market sales are utilised to collect
contributions. It was volunteers in Hiroshima
who started to open their shops. Since then,
it circulated to the other areas; Fukuoka
and Kanagawa. (The details will be informed
on the next reports.) A few volunteers in Kanagawa participated in the market sale of 'Fujisawashimin Bazaar' in September 1998. Unfortunately, we had rain, but we enjoyed the sale under a temporary roof made of vinyl arranged by 2 male volunteers. On the sales, we sold goods of laces made by women in Ramachor village. The laces were processed to tablecloths and sachets with rose aroma in Japan, and became lovely goods to sell. |
